Think you don’t know about John Morgan Salyer? Yes, you do!
Born 1882 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, Salyer has been a major influence in Old Time Fiddle music. He never made any commercial recordings, but in the 40’s many home recordings were made giving us a glimpse of his unique style and repertoire.
In this class we will listen to and learn some of his more well known tunes such as “Duck River”, “Lost Girl” and “Indian Ate the Woodchuck,” and also delve into some of his lesser known tunes like “Glida Roy”, “Sukie Flanagan” and “Lost Boy.”
This class is fiddle-centric but other melody instruments are always welcome!
This class meets in person.
