Description
TERM 6, 2026
INSTRUCTOR: Evan Kinney (bio)
DAY/TIME: Tues – 4:30pm, In-person
INSTRUMENT: Harmonica
The harmonica is often overlooked in the world of old-time music but it’s an excellent addition to any jam! It’s small and easy to travel with, inexpensive and, being a diatonic instrument, it’s simple to learn and understand, making it a great choice for anyone.
In this class we will learn common fiddle tunes you might hear in local old-time jams as well as techniques such as tongue blocking, double stops, and hand cupping. While there are harmonicas in any key, be sure to bring a 10 hole diatonic harmonica in the key of D so that we can all play together.
If you don’t have a harmonica yet, get in touch and we can provide recommendations for a harmonica to buy. All levels welcome!
This class meets in person.
And check out this video to see what studying old-time harmonica can eventually sound like!
