This summer, FHS and Paint Love, a non-profit who uses art “to empower youth and strengthen communities,” will join forces to bring music to their summer art camp for kids!

Paint Love is one of our neighbors in Legacy Park. (If you’ve ever driven by the playground and seen the magnificent shutters on their building, that’s where the art lives!)

We will partner with them on June 19th and July 24th to help the kids decorate their own ukuleles, show them a few chords, and generally have a great time combining art and music.

Each child will be given a ukulele to decorate that will be theirs to keep. We’re using a DIY ukulele kit that’s unfinished wood, so the kids can do what they want to decorate them.

Donations will provide the ukuleles for the children in the program.

We would also like to provide the opportunity for these children to join FHS’s kids’ music program if they decide to pursue learning to play the ukulele.

Scholarships will be given to each child who shows an interest in this endeavor.

  • A donation of $30 will provide a ukulele kit for a child.
  • A donation of $125 will provide an 8-week class for a child.
  • A donation of $155 will sponsor a ukulele kit and an 8-week class for a child.
  • A donation of any amount will help support a kit and a kid!
