COVID policies for the Frank Hamilton School
Based on the guidelines of the CDC as of July 28 and the policies of the City of Decatur, the Frank Hamilton School will ask all of its instructors and students to be vaccinated. (See below for pertinent guidelines and link to webpage)
Because DeKalb County is in a high-risk transmission area, masks will be worn upon entering the building and remain worn for the duration of the visit. Classes meeting out of doors will not be required to wear masks while they are outdoors. Any entry into the building will require a mask.
The School will not be asking to see vaccination cards; the honor system will be in place.
Even if you are fully vaccinated, if you are experiencing symptoms of the virus, please stay at home.
Classes will be available in three formats—online only, in-person with an online possibility for at-home students, and in-person only.
Since the nature of the virus is fluid and changing, these policies may be adjusted periodically to reflect the changes in recommendations for precautionary measures.
CDC Guidelines for Fully Vaccinated People
Recommendations for Indoor Settings
CDC recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status.”
Recommendations for Outdoor Settings
Current data suggest the risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in outdoor settings is minimal. In general, fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask outdoors. Fully vaccinated people might choose to wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised.
