Description
TERM 6, 2025
INSTRUCTOR: David Leonard (bio)
DAY/TIME: Wed – 7:30pm, In-person
INSTRUMENT: Guitar
Have you ever wondered how Dan Tymniski gets “that sound” out of his guitar? Have you ever wondered how anybody can keep up with Ricky Skaggs playing rhythm? Well, this class is for you!
We will spend eight weeks breaking down the best of bluegrass rhythm – from techniques and fundamentals that will help you play and sound better, to “bluegrass theory” and listening practices that will make you a better jammer and band mate, to concrete examples of G, C, and D rhythm patterns, backup runs, and transitions. We will put all of this into context with a selection of songs that we can perform at the ending showcase. Y’all come!
Note: This class is for intermediate to advanced players. If you can move smoothly from one chord to the next you are probably prepared.
This class meets in person.
