Intermediate Harmonica

TERM 4, 2024

INSTRUCTOR: Brad Gilmer (bio)
DAY/TIME: Thu – 2:30pm, In-person
LEVEL: Intermediate

The harmonica (sometimes called the harp) is one of the easiest instruments to play, is supremely portable (fits in your pocket of course), and does not require any amplification to be clearly heard in a crowd. But it is also a nuanced instrument capable of expressing deep human emotions.

Intermediate Harmonica is a class intended for people who have played the harmonica before, are able to play clear single notes, can play the melodies of some simple tunes, and who are looking to up their harmonica game.  If you are one of those people who play harmonica but wonder how to get that soulful sound of bending, the deep tone we all associate with the Mississippi Blues, and want to learn about how to play the harmonica along with other instruments in a way that complements them while adding the feeling and emotion that a harmonica can evoke, then this class is for you.

Prerequisites: Able to play clear single notes and able to play a melody line as well.  Recommended that you know what bending is, and have at least experimented with trying to get notes to bend on your harmonica.

Please bring an ‘A’ harmonica and a ‘D’ harmonica to class.

This class meets in person.
