Knowing plenty of fiddle tunes is only the start of getting ready to play for a dance.
Learn the ins and outs of playing for both contra dances and square dance: what to consider in choosing a tune, how to string together sets, how to drive the beat for the dancers, how to communicate with the caller.
Discover skills that make you a better band musician — getting your tunes up to dance tempo, how to change from one tune to the next in the set without stopping, and playing with one eye open for the caller’s needs.
Open to all instruments, this class will help you prepare to join a dance band or create your own!
