$90

Description

TERM 4, 2023

INSTRUCTORS: Max Godfrey (bio)
DAY/TIME: Wed – 4:30pm (half-hour class), In-person
INSTRUMENT: Fiddle
LEVEL: Beginning

In this beginner course, kids ages 6 and up will have a lot of fun and will set themselves up to become lifelong learners of the fiddle.  Rhythm and bowing are central to this course, and we’ll start from scratch with simple tunes that just use open strings to allow students to focus on their bow arms. We’ll do lots of clapping and singing to learn the melodies and chords to popular songs like “Little Liza Jane” and “In the Jungle!” No sheet music is needed for this course, which will be taught entirely by ear using the Fiddlequest online curriculum. (A subscription to Fiddlequest is free for students during the 8-week term).

NOTE: This is a half hour class – 4:30 to 5:00.

Students will need to rent a violin for this course, which is easily done through Voss Violins (across from Ponce City Market), Ronald Sachs Violins in Avondale Estates or other local violin shops.

This class meets in person.
