TERM 3, 2022
INSTRUCTOR: Mick Kinney (bio)
DAY/TIME: Tue – 7pm, In-person
The ultimate Americana genre with a fusion of square dance fiddle, twangy country cowpoke songs, and honky-tonk boogie with a hot Tex-Mex flavor!
While giving lead players plenty of room to cut loose, Western Swing chords are basically the same as most folks know already for old time or bluegrass music, but delivered with a driving “sock rhythm” stroke. We will be arranging some Bob Wills style twin fiddle harmonies, how to improvise on easy Texas two-steps like Panhandle Rag, and slow tear jerkers like Faded Love.
All instruments of any level are welcome to this combination of live in person ensemble sessions on Tuesday nights, with weekly instructional videos that can be studied anytime.
