TERM 1, 2022

INSTRUCTOR: Frank Hamilton (bio)
TIME: Thu – 7pm, Online only
INSTRUMENT: All instruments
LEVEL: Beginning

Ever wonder what the I, IV, V is all about? Why bother calling a key—what’s that mean to your playing? This class will answer those questions by teaching you the basics of music theory: scales for the major keys and the related sharps or flats, how each key is related to the next (circle of fifths) and even how to work out basic rhythms. All of this will take you far in understanding the make up of folk music.

You will also learn how to construct chords and to transpose from one key to another—all very essential skills in really understanding how music works!

This class is an online only class. Your instructor will send you information on how to access the class online.
